Citihealth Imports (Pvt) Ltd, a pharmaceutical importer and distributor held their eighth anniversary celebrations at the Colombo Hilton last week to recognise the contribution of the staff members who have helped the company grow to what it is today.
Today Citihealth is the fastest growing pharmaceutical company in Sri Lanka and is among the top 10 pharmaceutical companies in the country. Citihealth is the local agent for six major pharmaceutical companies of repute in India.Citihealth has already begun to supply HIV drugs to Sri Lankan patients at the most economical prices.
Citihealth has been the first pharmaceutical company to introduce an oral drug for Thalassemic patients who otherwise were on painful daily 8 – hour drips. Citihealth is also in the forefront of marketing anti-asthmatic products of Cipla. A wide range of anti-asthmatic products including dry powder and metered dose inhalers together with the unique DP Haler, which is the world’s No. 1 transparent inhaler, have become popular with the doctors and patients in Sri Lanka.
Citihealth through their principals, Serum Institute of India has been supplying vaccines to the government and private sector and have been responsible in almost eradicating tetanus from Sri Lanka.
Last year, the company established a veterinary division to market cattle, poultry and pet products manufactured by the Cipla Veterinary Division and Venkateshwara Hatcheries Ltd, India. This division is managed by two senior Veterinary Surgeons.
Citihealth has also commenced marketing a range of rehabilitation products such as neck collars and knee guards manufactured by MGRM of India.
The Chairman, Col. Chandra Jayaratne, a senior marketer and a management professional, together with the other members of the board of directors thanked the staff, distributors, bankers and all others who helped achieve what the company is today.
